This Privacy Policy describes how SlateCart (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information when you visit or make a purchase from slatecart.com (the “Site”) or otherwise use our services (collectively, the “Services”). The Services are powered by Shopify, which provides the platform and certain processing functions on our behalf. Where Shopify or other providers act as independent controllers, they will have their own privacy practices.
2. Last Updated / Changes
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or Services. We will post the revised policy on the Site and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes will be communicated as required by law.

5. How We Use Personal Information
We use personal information for the following purposes:

-
For marketing and advertising: send promotional emails or SMS (with opt-out), and deliver personalized ads on third-party sites (where permitted).

-
To meet legal obligations and protect rights: respond to lawful requests, enforce terms, or protect users, employees and the business.
-
For analytics and research: measure Site performance, usage trends, and aggregate reporting.
Where required by applicable law (for example, under EU law), we will rely on appropriate legal bases for processing such as performance of a contract, legitimate interests, consent, or compliance with a legal obligation.
6. Cookies, Tracking & Similar Technologies
We and our partners use cookies, web beacons, pixels, SDKs, and similar technologies to collect Usage Data and support functionality, analytics, and advertising. For information about Shopify-related cookies, see Shopify’s cookie resources. You can configure most browsers to block cookies—however doing so may break functionality on the Site.
7. How We Share & Disclose Information
We may share personal information with:
-
Service providers & vendors who perform services on our behalf (payment processors, shipping carriers, hosting providers, analytics, marketing platforms, customer service tools).
-
Shopify as our platform provider (Shopify may process some data independently or make enhanced features available).
-
Business partners and advertisers for marketing and advertising purposes (subject to your choices and applicable law).
-
Affiliates and corporate partners for internal operations.
-
Legal authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, or property.
-
Buyers or other parties in connection with a merger, sale, reorganization, liquidation or similar corporate transaction (information may be transferred as part of the assets).
We do not knowingly sell personal information of minors. Where the term “sale” or “share” is defined by applicable law, we will disclose whether we have sold/shared categories of personal information and to whom in the preceding 12 months (you can find an overview in the “How We Share” summary above).
8. Relationship with Shopify & Third-Party Services
Our Site is hosted on Shopify. Shopify and other third parties may collect and process personal information to provide their services. Some features (for example, cross-site personalized advertising or analytics) may use aggregated data across merchants. You can learn more about Shopify’s practices at Shopify’s privacy pages and, where available, manage choices through Shopify’s privacy portal.
9. International Transfers & Storage
Your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries other than your own (including India and other countries where our service providers operate). Where required, we rely on recognized transfer mechanisms (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) or other lawful measures. By using the Services, you consent to such transfers.
10. Data Retention & Security
We retain personal information only as long as necessary to provide Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. We implement reasonable organizational and technical measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. However, no system is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security. Where required by law, we will notify you and regulators of certain data breaches.
11. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights including:
-
Access: request a copy of personal information we hold about you.
-
Correction: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
-
Deletion: request deletion of your personal information (subject to exceptions).
-
Portability: request a copy of your information in a portable format.
-
Restriction: request restriction of processing in certain situations.
-
Object / Opt-out: object to certain processing, including profiling and direct marketing; opt out of sale/share for targeted advertising where applicable.
-
Withdraw consent: where processing relies on consent, withdraw that consent.
To exercise rights, contact us as set out below. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling requests. We will respond within timeframes required by applicable law. You may also designate an authorized agent to make requests on your behalf (we may require proof of authorization).
12. Marketing Communications & Managing Preferences
We may send promotional emails and SMS messages if you opt in. You can opt out at any time by following unsubscribe links in messages or contacting us. Opting out of marketing will not prevent us from sending transactional or service messages (order confirmations, shipping notices, account alerts).
13. Children’s Privacy
The Services are not intended for children under the age of majority in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child provided us personal data, contact us and we will take steps to remove it.
14. User-Generated Content
If you post product reviews, comments, or other content on public areas of the Site, that content may be visible to others. Do not include sensitive personal information in public posts. We are not responsible for others’ use of any content you make public.
15. Automated Decision-Making & Profiling
We may use automated systems to support personalization (product recommendations, marketing) and fraud detection. If you are subject to any automated decision that produces legal or similarly significant effects and you wish to request human review, contact us and we will provide available options consistent with applicable law.
16. Do Not Track
Some browsers transmit “Do Not Track” signals. Our Site currently does not respond to browser Do Not Track signals because there is not yet a consistent industry standard. You can manage tracking through browser settings and device controls.
17. Complaints & Supervisory Authorities
If you are not satisfied with our response to a privacy inquiry or complaint, you may have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

20. Additional Disclosures (by jurisdiction)
Where required by law (for example, under the California Consumer Privacy Act, the EU GDPR, or other local privacy laws), additional disclosures and controls may apply. If you would like information specific to your jurisdiction (e.g., methods to opt-out of targeted advertising, contact info for data protection officers, or the legal basis for processing), contact us and we will provide jurisdictional details applicable to you.
